Dales Motability Services
If the DWP have assigned you as the appointee responsible for collecting benefits for a disabled person you can lease a Motability Scheme vehicle on their behalf. This usually applies when that person is under 16 years of age or unable to look after their own affairs.
As an appointee you would be the hirer of the Motability Scheme vehicle and legally responsible for the lease agreement. It’s therefore your responsibility to ensure that the Scheme car is used for the right purpose and that the disabled person has full access to it. You also take full responsibility for any outstanding monies for the Scheme lease agreement.
For corporate appointees or carers these rules may be different. If you are ever in doubt, please feel free to get in touch for up to date advise on your specific circumstances.
At Dales we can take advantage of our modern servicing facilities to take care of all of your maintenance and repair needs, making us your one-stop shop whatever the issue. We will let you know when routine servicing is due, and if you should develop any issue with your new vehicle then we are just a phone call away.
When you visit us you will always be met by friendly and familiar faces, comfortable waiting areas and a hot or cold drink while you wait. Our sales teams will also be available if you have any further queries about the scheme or changing your vehicle at the end of your lease.
The Motability Scheme offers hundreds of adaptations, ranging from simple driving controls to person hoists or wheelchair lifts. All adaptations are designed to help make your driving or travelling experience as comfortable as possible, and depending on which adaptations you choose they can help you drive, stow your wheelchair or scooter, or get in and out of the car.
We will be able to advise which adaptations are suitable for your needs if you're not sure, with a huge range being fitted at no or low extra cost at the start of your lease. Not all adaptations are suitable for every car on the scheme, so if you think you may require any it's always best to consider this before searching for a vehicle in order to narrow your search.
Our team of Motability specialists are here to help you make the best choice for your new car and guide you through the ordering process.
Taking into account your specific needs, we will first make recommendations and set up test drives for as many vehicles as needed until you find what's right for you. Once you have selected your vehicle the next steps are simple. We will provide you with a short list of the documents required for your application and submit your information for you online while you wait. A few days later after everything has been checked, we will confirm your application has been successful. That's it!
Following this we will keep you regularly updated on the progress of your order and when you can expect to get behind the wheel of your new car.

It’s an allowance to help with the extra costs of living with a long-term health condition or disability. It's not means-tested, or affected by earnings or savings.
PIP has two parts:
The daily living part
The mobility part
Each has two rates:
Lower rate
Higher rate
If you’re awarded the higher rate mobility part of PIP, with at least 12 months left, you’re eligible to apply for the Motability Scheme.
PIP is gradually replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for disabled people aged between 16 and State Pension age.
In Scotland, PIP is being replaced with Adult Disability Payment, which will be administered by Social Security Scotland rather than the DWP.
If you want to change your vehicle, you'll need to speak with Motability directly.
Leasing a vehicle on the Motability Scheme means you agree to lease it for the full length of the agreement.
If you cancel your agreement, you might need to pay an administration fee of £250.
If you’re finding your vehicle is too expensive to run, first look at how much it would cost to use alternative transport, like taxis. It might be cheaper to keep your Scheme vehicle.
Remember, you can have up to three drivers on your lease, so someone else could drive your vehicle, as long as it benefits you.
If you keep cancelling your agreements with us, it can affect whether you're eligible to join the Motability Scheme in the future.
Motability offers money back to customers who return vehicles in ‘good condition’.
Our team can assess your vehicle upon its return to determine if your Motability vehicle qualifies for this bonus.
Just complete our form, with your nominee, so Moatbility can speak to them on your behalf.
You can complete and sign the form online. Or if you prefer, you can email a scanned version or print it and post it back to Motability.
It might take up to five working days to set up a nominee. For extra security, we’ll ask you to create a password they can use when they call us.
